Independent stays in Scotland

Highlands, Lowlands, islands and cities: a genuinely vast range of landscape, and independent stays to match all of it. Edinburgh and Glasgow give it two very different, very walkable cities; the Highlands and islands give it some of the most dramatic, least crowded scenery anywhere in the UK. NHS healthcare is available region-wide. For anything non-urgent, most areas also have NHS 111 for advice over the phone.

Queueing is taken seriously nationwide, and a service charge or a rounded-up bill (roughly 10-12.5%) is the norm at sit-down restaurants, though never compulsory.
